1. What kinds of things do you do at camp?
We have so many things to do here, including swimming, horseback riding, climbing wall, arts & crafts, and much, much more. For a more complete list, take another look at our Activities page – right here on the website.

  2. Will I get to try every activity?
Like we said, we have so many things to do here – and we’re always inventing new things, too. Because of this, our one-week campers don’t get to sample everything on our Activity Schedule. Also, weather occasionally affects how we schedule our activities. You can be sure of one thing: no matter how long you’re here, you’ll be busy with a fun-filled mix of good old camp favorites and things you’ve never even imagined!

  3. What if I feel like I’m missing home?
We’ll be keeping you busy doing all that fun stuff, and we discourage our campers from calling home during camp. Our staff is well trained to look out for the signs of missing home, and they know how to make campers feel better. If a camper continues to miss home for more than a full day, our staff will call home to discuss options to help the camper continue at camp for the rest of the session. If for some reason it becomes necessary to leave camp early, we regret that we cannot offer a refund. We hire staff and purchase equipment and supplies based upon the number of campers who register each year.

  4. Can camp visits be scheduled?
We have a unique arrangement that allows parents to log on to our website, to view posted articles and photos about what is going on at camp – right during the season! If more contact is considered important, parents can make arrangements with the camp director to set up a time to see camp and their child. For those staying a 13-day session, there are visiting hours between 10 AM and 2 PM on the Sunday between weeks. Please understand that unannounced “drop-in” visits can be very disruptive to our camp program.

  5. Can we bring food to camp or receive care packages?
Campers receive three meals and two snacks here every day. In addition, campers can buy more snacks at our camp store every evening. We do not allow food in our cabins, in order to control insects and other wildlife. (Animals can be cute, but not where we live!) Any food found in rooms will be discarded. Campers open their “care packages” in front of staff, and any food is also discarded. Care packages should contain letters, books or small games.

  6. Speaking of food, how about meeting special dietary needs?
We try to accommodate all campers and staff, while serving three meals and two snacks to the entire camp daily. Typically, every meal has a vegetarian option and there are always peanut butter, jelly and marshmallow fluff available. If you have a special diet, please let us know well in advance and we will do what we can to accommodate you.

  7. What if I don’t know anyone else at camp?
Kamp A-Kom-Plish is an incredibly friendly place! We are very experienced at introducing campers, and then they just kind of take over and become great friends. We see it happen day after day, summer after summer. And sometimes camp is a great opportunity to start over – without having to be exactly what your schoolmates sort of expect you to be. You make some of your closest friends ever, right here at camp.

  8. Is there an opportunity to talk to the counselor and find out how everything went?
We have set aside a special day and time for parents to pick up the camper and sit down to a lunch with the child’s counselor. Pick up is scheduled for 11 AM on the session’s last day, and we encourage you to make enough time on that day to join us for lunch and for this valuable discussion.

  9. When I return home, what if I am missing some of my personal belongings?
While we make a valiant effort to help campers keep track of their belongings, inevitably we have lost and mixed up possessions. We encourage you to pack older, less costly clothing items and to leave valuables at home. There will be a lost and found box in the dining hall on the day campers head for home. Please take a look if you think you might have left something behind. Unfortunately, we cannot be responsible for missing items.

  10. When I return home, what if I am missing camp?
We encourage you to call us – and enroll for a return visit next summer!

We know we haven’t addressed all your concerns – these are just the most frequently asked questions. We urge you to call us with your additional questions, and we assure you that all details are thoroughly covered in our Parents Manual for families of enrolled campers.
